Easy Apple Cinnamon Bombs

I posted a picture of these delicious Apple Cinnamon Bombs a little while ago on Instagram when I whipped them up as a quick dessert. Well, they ended up being delicious and they were all gobbled up right away! So we decided we needed to make them again and write down the recipe to share with you all!Apples are always abundant in the fall. Here we chopped up a couple into small pieces to make the filling for our Apple Cinnamon Bombs.

Such as in this easy Homemade Applesauce. These apple bombs are also great for getting children involved. Once you’ve made the filling they can help roll them up into balls and roll them in the cinnamon sugar, making this recipe a fun activity for the whole family!

The Ingredients

This is actually a very simple and easy dessert thanks to pre-made pastry dough. These Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls would work perfectly for this recipe! These croissant rolls are great because they can be used for all kinds of things both sweet and savory. I like to throw some leftovers in between two sheets with a little cheese and bake it like a homemade hot pocket. We call them Leftover Pockets. Anyways, in this recipe they are rolled around some apple filling to make sweet and buttery dessert pastries.

 

 

As always, feel free to chef around and make this dish your own! You could swap the apple filling for another fall fruit such as pear, or anything else you feel like trying and it will be delicious. If you don’t mind using a pre-made pie filling you could use any of those as well to make this an even easier and more simple recipe!
We caramelized these apples as you would in a pie filling, except we're going to put them into croissant rolls to make individual servings of Apple Cinnamon Bombs.

Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix together cinnamon and white sugar on a small plate and set aside.
  2. Heat butter in a pan over medium heat. Add diced apples and brown sugar and cook until apples are caramelized and mixture starts to thicken, about 6-8 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Line a baking sheet and lay out the pastry triangles.
  4. Put a dollop of the apple filling in the middle of the widest part of the triangle and wrap the dough around it.
  5. Roll the pastry balls in the cinnamon sugar and evenly space them on your baking sheet.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes. They should be golden brown and the filling will be very hot. Enjoy!

Apple Cinnamon Bombs

Serves:4

 

Ingredients:

1 pkg Croissant Dough
2 Apples, peeled and diced
1/3 cup Brown Sugar
1 Tbsp Butter
2 Tbsp White Sugar
1/4 Tsp Cinnamon, ground

 

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Start by caramelizing the apples to make the filling, much like an apple pie filling.Combine high quality ground cinnamon with white sugar to make cinnamon sugar, delicious in many different recipes!
Mix together white sugar and cinnamon on a small plate and set aside.
Fold in the shorter corners first, then you can use the longer tail to roll these Apple Cinnamon Bombs into a little ball. Don't forget to roll them in cinnamon sugar after!Heat butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Once melted and starting to brown add apples and brown sugar. Cook until apples are caramelized and mixture starts to thicken, about 5-8 minutes. Remove apple mixture from heat and set aside.
Place a small spoonful of apple filling in the wide end of the croissant dough.

Lay out your pastry triangles on a lined baking sheet. Put a dollop of the apple filling in the middle of the largest part of the triangle and wrap the pastry dough around it. Roll the pastry balls in the cinnamon-sugar mixture and place back on your baking sheet.

Bake for 10 minutes or until golden brown. Be careful as the filling will be very hot! Enjoy!
